Arts and Crafts Experience Days: This glassblowing workshop will teach you the fundamentals of an art form that dates back thousands of years. Learn how to blow molten glass using a traditional blowing iron and tools—and once annealed and cooled you can collect your one-of-a-kind masterpiece or choose to have it posted for a small fee!Classes are held at a creative glass studio in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. They’re led by an experienced artist and glassblower who’ll begin the session with a full safety briefing. Groups are kept small to ensure everyone receives plenty of one-to-one guidance throughout. Your instructor will introduce a variety of glassblowing tools before demonstrating how to gather molten glass from the furnace. Using the blowing iron, you’ll learn how to glass blow and shape the molten glass into a sphere, paperweight or vase. You can also apply patterns and colours by rolling the blown glass over a selection of coloured powders and grits.
