fly fishing trip on Rutland Water—and hopefully land one of the
lakes magnificent trout!
Rutland Water is a scenic reservoir, a mile east of Oakham. It’s
home to both brown and rainbow trout, as well as a whole host of
birdlife—including cormorant and osprey. Put your binoculars away
though, ‘cause we’re here for the fish! On arrival, you’ll be
greeted by your boatman and guide for the day, who’ll issue you
with buoyancy aids and all the other equipment you’ll need for a
day’s fly fishing on the lake (permits have all been sorted).
Excursions begin at 10am and return at 2pm, so there’s plenty of
time to master the swish and flick of the line. Question is—will
you catch anything? Well, our fingers and toes will be crossed for
you.
